The weekend of the 19th and 20th of April marked the end of the World Cup season with the finals in St. Moritz! A weekend that has, in particular, enabled Lara Gut and Marcel Hirscher to be crowned winners of the “Big Globe 2016”. A year after her knee injury in Meribel (World Cup finals 2015), Adeline Baud-Mugnier took part in the Team Event on Friday and the Giant on Sunday. She closed the season with a nice top 10 in the Giant: a great performance after another year full of emotion!
Team Event, a year after
It was a year ago to the day that Adeline withdrew, just a few days before the Team Event in Méribel. Report, torn cruciate ligaments in the left knee … a hard blow for the Gêtoise who then began a long period of rehabilitation. As a symbol, the Gêtoise again took park in the Team event In St Moritz on Friday alongside the Team France athletes, just to draw a line under the past. Truly a show of great courage and selflessness, reflecting the strength of Boulie’s character.
This year, no snags, a great race in this parallel where Adeline will have taken pleasure from a competition that she particularly enjoys “This is really the type of race that suits me perfectly! I take great pleasure from the team, it’s a race format that changes us from the rest of the season, and the team spirit is in the meeting. In the end we finished 4th, behind Switzerland, Germany and Sweden. A little disappointing because the podium was really not that far! The conditions were ideal, with salty snow (the temperature was very high in St. Moritz) and beautiful sun! What more could you ask for? “
A new top 10 in the giant !
The circuit girls met on Sunday for the last World Cup Giant of the season! Positioned in the first twenty-five placements of speciality, Adeline had it in her heart to do well, counting three top 15 finishes season in the discipline. Leaving behind bib 23, Boulie did not find the right pace on the first run: in the end, a 17th provisional place after a disappointing round, given her normal capabilities… The second was quite different and confirmed that the Frenchwoman could aim higher. She led the race after a clean innings to make a good comeback and climb to 10th instead, furthermore with the 3rd fastest time of this second run!
A big BRAVO for this performance even after a hectic season, stopping for three weeks in February following an injury in Maribor on the 31st of January last. This top 10 allowed her to calmly deal with the end of the season with several deadlines: “this giant reflects my year. A poor first run and a second innings where I worked with pride! I made a good comeback to finish 10th, in the same place as my first race of the season in Aspen. I remain positive about what’s to come, we must continue working towards two good races that will allow me to brush up to the best in the future. »
Lenzerheide management for the 2016 customs tournament
Before the France Championships the weekend of March 31st, Boulie has taken management from Lenzerheide for the traditional Customs Tournament which starts on Wednesday. She will then rejoin the Menuires to compete in the Giant, the Slalom, the Super-G and City Event in the French Championships: a nice program in perspective before finishing smoothly in April, with training up to the end of the month.
